The Health and Happiness Journal Prompts
1. What’s on my mind today?
Explore: is there something you’re worried about today? Something you are excited about? Someone you’re missing or looking forward to see? If you find this prompt results in you writing out something you are worried or anxious about, ask yourself:
- Is it true?
- Is it likely to happen?
- What if it does?
- How will you be okay, no matter what happens?
2. What’s my inituition telling me?
Explore: is there a nagging thought that keeps creeping in? How does your body feel? Do you need a nap today? To move and go for a walk? Is there a book you keep wanting to read but aren’t making time for? Did you have a weird dream last night? Write it out.
This might feel a little awkward if you’re not used to it, and that’s 100% okay. If you can’t think of what to write, ask your body, your brain, or any part of you what it needs today. We also highly recommend the Hoffman Process Quadrinity Checks if you want to delve into this more. You can find them on their Instagram page here.
3. What am I doing great with?
Reflect and recognize: this is a way to celebrate your personal wins, no matter how small they might feel. Are you slating it with a healthy diet right now? Did you move your body more than normal this week? Are you being great at expressing your feelings, sleeping enough, or even it can be as simple as tidying away some things on the floor. Write a list. Recognize that you are doing great in some areas.
4. What am I asking the universe for?
Believe and declare: What do you want to manifest for yourself? Whether it’s the universe, God, Lady Luck or who/whatever you believe makes “coincidences” and great things happen, ask it/them/him/her for what you want today. Emily Fletcher of Ziva Meditation calls this “Placing an order with the waiter at the Cosmic Restaurant.” It might be something that you need to put the work into like a job interview, or it might be something you think is completely out of your control like a legal case settling, or maybe it’s something simple like you want the universe to support you with an easy day today – whatever you need and want, ask for it.
5. What am I going to do today?
Plan and guide your day: Write out 3-5 things that you will do today, in the order that you will do them. Some might be routine items that you do every day but you need to reinforce because you’ve been forgetting lately like taking your vitamins, or some will be tasks on your (get)To-Do list like a work deliverable, an errand, or event you’re attending or taking your kids to.
6. What Mantra do I need today?
Tap into your source: what word, phrase, or even song would support you today in how you’re feeling and what you want. You can pick from our list here, write your own, or think of a song that’ll bring you the energy you need to make today count. If you have post-it notes, or note cards, write it out and set it on your desk or wherever you will see it today. If you’re out and about, send yourself a text or email with it so you can be reminded of it daily.
